Personnel Protection

In a controlled environment protection runs in two directions at once: protecting the product from the person, and protecting the person from the process.

The first direction governs cleanrooms and device manufacturing. The operator is the area's largest particle source, so hair, facial hair, body and footwear are covered, and equipment is chosen by coverage and by how much particle the material itself sheds.

The second governs wherever there is a chemical or biological agent. The criteria change entirely there: what matters is the barrier, the material's resistance, and not introducing a new hazard — such as a sole that slips on a wet floor.

In practice almost every area needs both, and equipment is decided product by product according to which direction weighs more at that point in the process.

What it takes

  • Caps, beard covers and hoods according to the coverage the area demands
  • Face masks with declared filtration efficiency, not assumed
  • Shoe covers with antislip soles, so one hazard is not traded for another
  • Single-use product: no laundering cycle to reintroduce variability
